Oakland Travel Guide
If you head across the Bay Bridge from San Francisco, you’ll end up in Oakland. Oakland has always had its own vibe and it has recently received many artists and other non-tech economic refugees from San Francisco. It’s a great city in its own right and well worth a visit. There are great places for coffee, craft beer, and cannabis.
Located near Oakland Amtrak station inside warehouse, Bicycle Coffee is typically Oakland. All deliveries of their coffees are done by bicycle, lowering the carbon footprint of an often carbon-intensive industry. At their roastery they serve up a good variety of quality beans from sustainable farms.
A few blocks up from Oakland’s famous Jack London Square is a small bar with one of the most impressive tap lists in the city. Beer Revolutions has a nice patio outside and a small dark inside area with 50 taps and an extensive selection of bottles and cans.
Conveniently located across the street from the MacArthur BART station, Arthur Mac’s has a good tap list and nice outdoor seating.
Telegraph Health Center (“THC” – get it?) is perhaps the friendliest dispenary in Oakland. Everyone from the security to the bud tenders make you feel at home. A good selection of flower and edibles to choose from.
